About Me

I’m Erika Joy Puruleski, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing psychiatric care to adults throughout Arizona through telehealth.

I created Joy Integrative Psychiatry because I believe people deserve psychiatric care that looks beyond a diagnosis. Your symptoms matter, but so do your overall health, experiences, lifestyle, relationships, stressors, and goals.

My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your treatment.

My Approach

I believe good psychiatric care begins with listening.

During an evaluation, I take time to understand your mental health history, medical history, medications, sleep, lifestyle, current stressors, and what is most important to you. Together, we work to understand what may be contributing to how you're feeling and develop an individualized plan for moving forward.

Medication can be an important and effective part of treatment, but it isn't always the entire answer. When appropriate, treatment may also include education, behavioral strategies, lifestyle considerations, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

What I Believe

You deserve to be heard. Mental health care should feel like a conversation, not a checklist.

You are more than a diagnosis. A diagnosis can help guide treatment, but it doesn't define who you are.

Treatment should be individualized. There is no single medication or treatment approach that works for everyone.

Mental and physical health are connected. Sleep, medical conditions, medications, lifestyle, and stress can all influence how you feel.

Progress matters more than perfection. Finding the right approach may take time, adjustment, and collaboration.

Why Joy Integrative Psychiatry?

I chose the name Joy Integrative Psychiatry intentionally.

Joy isn't about pretending life is always easy. It's about creating the opportunity to feel more like yourself—to have greater clarity, emotional stability, connection, and the ability to participate fully in your own life.

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, ADHD, sleep concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed and unlike yourself, you don't have to figure everything out alone.

Education & Credentials

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner studies from Walden University and am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

My nursing background has shaped the way I approach psychiatric care. I value evidence-based medicine while recognizing that every person brings a unique history and set of circumstances to treatment.

I continue to expand my education and clinical knowledge so I can provide thoughtful, current, and comprehensive care.

A Personal Note

Starting psychiatric treatment can feel vulnerable. You may have been struggling for a long time, or perhaps something has recently changed and you know you need support.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you reach out.

My role is to listen, help you understand what may be contributing to how you're feeling, and work with you to determine the next step.

You deserve care that sees the whole person—not just the symptoms.

I’m glad you’re here.
