Our integrative approach combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a whole-person perspective, recognizing that mental health is influenced by many aspects of your life and overall health.
We provide evaluation and treatment for concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, sleep disorders, stress-related concerns, and eating disorders, as well as many other psychiatric conditions.
Our services include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, supportive counseling, and secure telehealth care throughout Arizona. When appropriate, treatment may also incorporate behavioral strategies, lifestyle considerations, psychoeducation, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Every person is different, and your treatment should be too. We take the time to understand your history, symptoms, health, circumstances, and goals so we can develop a treatment plan that is individualized to you.
If you don't see your specific concern listed, that doesn't mean we can't help. We evaluate and treat a broad range of psychiatric conditions and welcome you to reach out to discuss your individual needs and determine whether Joy Integrative Psychiatry is the right fit for you.
ADHD
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, organization, impulse control, and executive functioning. While many people associate ADHD with hyperactivity, it often presents very differently in adults—especially women. Symptoms may include difficulty staying focused, forgetfulness, chronic procrastination, feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks, disorganization, restlessness, racing thoughts, emotional sensitivity, difficulty completing projects, and challenges with time management. These symptoms can impact work, relationships, self-confidence, and overall quality of life.
ADHD is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and other factors that may contribute to attention and concentration difficulties. Treatment is personalized and may include evidence-based medications, behavioral strategies, psychoeducation, and lifestyle interventions to support executive functioning and emotional well-being.
Taking an integrative approach means looking beyond symptoms alone. When appropriate, we also consider factors such as sleep quality, nutrition, physical activity, stress, and other medical conditions that can influence attention, mood, and cognitive performance. Our goal is to create a treatment plan that combines the best available evidence with a whole-person perspective, helping you better understand your ADHD and develop practical strategies to thrive in daily life.
Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health concerns and can affect far more than your mood. While some anxiety is a normal response to stress, persistent or excessive anxiety can begin to interfere with daily life, relationships, work, sleep, and overall well-being. Anxiety can also lead to avoidance of situations, activities, or experiences that feel overwhelming.
Anxiety is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, sleep, stress, lifestyle, medications, and other factors that may contribute to anxiety. Treatment is personalized and may include evidence-based medications, behavioral strategies, psychoeducation, and lifestyle interventions.
Taking an integrative approach means looking beyond anxiety symptoms alone. When appropriate, we also consider factors such as sleep quality, nutrition, physical activity, stress, and other medical conditions that may influence mood and nervous system functioning. Our goal is to help you understand your anxiety, identify what may be contributing to it, and develop practical, effective strategies to feel more balanced and confident in daily life.
Depression
Depression is more than simply feeling sad. It is a common but treatable mental health condition that can affect the way you think, feel, and function in everyday life. Symptoms may include persistent sadness, loss of interest or enjoyment in activities, fatigue, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, feelings of guilt or hopelessness, irritability, low motivation, and a sense that even simple tasks feel overwhelming. Depression can impact relationships, work, physical health, and overall quality of life.
At Joy Integrative Psychiatry, depression is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and other factors that may be contributing to how you're feeling. Treatment is personalized and may include evidence-based medications, psychotherapy recommendations, psychoeducation, and lifestyle interventions to support both emotional and physical well-being.
Taking an integrative approach means looking beyond symptoms alone. When appropriate, we also consider factors such as sleep quality, nutrition, physical activity, stress, hormones, vitamin deficiencies, inflammation, and underlying medical conditions that can influence mood. Our goal is to create a personalized treatment plan that combines the best available evidence with a whole-person perspective, helping you regain hope, improve daily functioning, and achieve lasting mental wellness.
Sleep Disorders
Sleep plays an essential role in mental and physical health, yet sleep difficulties are extremely common. Problems with sleep can affect mood, concentration, energy, memory, stress levels, and overall quality of life. Persistent sleep concerns may also contribute to or worsen anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.
Sleep concerns are evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your sleep patterns, mental and physical health, medications and supplements, lifestyle, stress, caffeine and substance use, and other factors that may affect sleep. When appropriate, evaluation may also identify concerns that warrant further medical or sleep-specialist assessment.
Treatment is personalized and may include behavioral strategies, sleep hygiene, lifestyle interventions, psychoeducation, and evidence-based medications when appropriate. Taking an integrative approach means looking beyond sleep alone and considering factors such as stress, mood, physical health, daily routines, and other conditions that may be affecting your ability to rest.
Our goal is to help you understand what may be interfering with your sleep and develop a practical treatment plan that supports restorative sleep, improved functioning, and greater overall well-being.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder characterized by significant shifts in mood, energy, activity, and functioning. These changes can affect relationships, work, sleep, decision-making, and overall quality of life. Bipolar disorder can present differently from person to person, and accurate diagnosis is important because symptoms can sometimes overlap with depression, anxiety, ADHD, or other conditions.
Bipolar disorder is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your current and past mood patterns, psychiatric and medical history, family history, sleep, medications, substance use, and other factors that may influence mood and behavior.
Treatment is personalized and may include evidence-based medications, psychoeducation, lifestyle strategies, sleep and routine stabilization, and ongoing monitoring. An integrative approach considers the whole person and focuses on identifying patterns, reducing mood instability, supporting healthy routines, and helping you develop greater stability and confidence in daily life.
Our goal is to help you better understand your mood patterns and develop a thoughtful treatment plan that supports long-term stability and overall well-being.
PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic or deeply distressing event. Trauma can affect the way a person feels, thinks, sleeps, relates to others, and responds to stress. PTSD can impact daily functioning, relationships, work, and overall quality of life.
PTSD is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment that considers your trauma history, current symptoms, mental and physical health, sleep, medications, substance use, coping strategies, and other factors that may influence your well-being. A careful evaluation also considers whether other conditions, such as anxiety or depression, may be occurring alongside PTSD.
Treatment is personalized and may include evidence-based medications, psychoeducation, behavioral strategies, lifestyle interventions, and collaboration with a therapist when appropriate. Taking an integrative approach means considering the whole person and recognizing the connection between mental health, physical health, sleep, stress, and daily functioning.
Our goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space to better understand how trauma may be affecting you and develop a thoughtful treatment plan that supports healing, stability, and a greater sense of control in your life.
Stress Management
Stress is a natural part of life, but ongoing or overwhelming stress can begin to affect your mood, sleep, relationships, concentration, physical health, and overall well-being. Work demands, relationships, major life changes, caregiving, financial concerns, and other challenges can sometimes leave you feeling overwhelmed or emotionally depleted.
Stress management begins with understanding how stress is affecting you and identifying the factors that may be contributing to it. During an evaluation, we consider your mental and physical health, sleep, lifestyle, daily responsibilities, coping strategies, and current sources of stress.
Treatment is personalized and may include psychoeducation, behavioral strategies, lifestyle changes, medication management when clinically appropriate, and collaboration with a therapist or other healthcare professionals when helpful.
Taking an integrative approach means looking at the whole picture and developing practical strategies that fit your life. Our goal is to help you build healthier ways of responding to stress, improve resilience, and create greater balance and well-being in your everyday life.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that can affect a person's relationship with food, eating, body image, and self-worth. They can occur in people of any age, body size, or background and may significantly affect emotional and physical health.
Evaluation involves understanding your relationship with food and your body, along with your mental and physical health, medical history, medications, lifestyle, and other factors that may influence eating patterns. Because eating disorders can involve important medical risks, treatment may also involve coordination with a primary care provider, therapist, dietitian, or other specialists when appropriate.
Treatment is individualized and may include psychiatric evaluation, medication management when clinically appropriate, psychoeducation, and collaboration with other members of your healthcare team. An integrative approach considers both mental and physical health while recognizing that recovery often benefits from comprehensive, coordinated care.
Our goal is to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support while helping you better understand the factors affecting your relationship with food and develop a treatment plan that supports both your mental and physical well-being.
Counseling
Psychiatric care can involve more than medication. Supportive counseling and therapeutic conversations can provide a space to better understand your emotions, identify patterns, work through current challenges, and develop practical strategies for managing symptoms and improving daily functioning.
Counseling within psychiatric care is personalized to your needs and may address anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, coping skills, self-esteem, relationships, and other concerns affecting your mental well-being.
Our approach is collaborative and focused on helping you develop greater insight, resilience, and confidence in managing life's challenges. When specialized or ongoing psychotherapy is appropriate, we can also coordinate care with or refer you to a licensed therapist who can provide dedicated psychotherapy services.
The goal is to ensure you receive the right level of support while creating a treatment plan that addresses the whole person.
Medication Management
Medication management is an important part of psychiatric care for many people. Finding the right medication—or determining that medication may not be the right approach—requires thoughtful evaluation, ongoing monitoring, and collaboration.
Medication management begins with a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, current medications and supplements, lifestyle, and treatment goals. We consider potential benefits, risks, side effects, interactions, and alternatives when making treatment recommendations.
Treatment may involve starting a medication, adjusting an existing medication, changing medications, or determining that continued medication is appropriate. Follow-up visits allow us to monitor your response, address concerns, and make adjustments as needed.
Our approach is individualized and evidence-based, while also considering the whole person. The goal is not simply to prescribe medication, but to help you find a treatment approach that supports improved symptoms, functioning, and overall quality of life.
Telehealth
Telehealth makes it possible to receive personalized psychiatric care from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Joy Integrative Psychiatry provides secure telehealth psychiatric services to adults throughout Arizona, making mental health care more convenient and accessible.
Through telehealth appointments, we can provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, supportive counseling, follow-up care, and ongoing treatment planning. Virtual care allows us to focus on your needs while eliminating the need to travel to an office.
Our telehealth approach is designed to provide the same thoughtful, individualized care you would expect from an in-person practice. We take time to understand your symptoms, health, lifestyle, and goals and work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.
Telehealth may not be appropriate for every situation or every patient. When a higher level of care, in-person evaluation, or additional medical services are needed, we will help coordinate appropriate care.
Our goal is to make quality psychiatric care more accessible while providing a convenient, compassionate, and patient-centered experience.
Comprehensive Evaluations
A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is the foundation of personalized mental health care. Rather than focusing only on your immediate symptoms, we take time to understand the whole picture—including your mental and physical health, medical and psychiatric history, medications and supplements, sleep, lifestyle, stressors, and personal goals.
An integrative approach recognizes that mental health can be influenced by many factors. When clinically appropriate, we consider how sleep, nutrition, physical activity, stress, medical conditions, medications, and other aspects of your health may contribute to how you are feeling.
Your evaluation may include assessment of mood, anxiety, attention, sleep, trauma, substance use, and other areas relevant to your concerns. We use evidence-based assessment and clinical judgment to develop an individualized understanding of your needs.
The goal is not simply to assign a diagnosis. It is to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and create a thoughtful treatment plan that supports your mental health, overall well-being, and long-term goals.
